Noah Thomas Roh – Acupuncturist

Noah Thomas Roh - (Specialises in 5 Element Acupuncture)
Noah is a Chinese Medicine practitioner specialising in Acupuncture. Noah graduated from The University of Technology, Sydney in N.S.W. with a Bachelors in Health Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine. This was followed by a Graduate Diploma in Acupuncture, at RMIT University in Victoria. Noah has spent time at a number of different clinics in Australia, Korea and China to study under experienced practitioners and gain a broader knowledge in the art of Acupuncture.
The idea of helping people through a natural form of healing was what originally attracted Noah to Eastern Philosophies. He was amazed as he witnessed great change in the people that come for treatment from these very skilled practitioners in turn encouraging Noah’s faith in this ancient form of healing and inspired him to further his study and passion in Chinese Medicine.
When Noah met 5 Element Acupuncturist Gye Bennetts, and experienced this style for the first time he became fascinated by this form of Acupuncture, following the completion of Advanced 5 Elements Acupuncture Seminars he soon adopted this Classical 5 Element Acupuncture system into his own treatments.
The Acupuncture style Noah practices treats the person as a whole. It means that the person’s body, mind and spirit are taken into account. Noah strongly believes this is the best way to truly treat holistically and also to help heal someone completely.
Classical 5 Element Acupuncture
Classical 5 Element Acupuncture is based on ancient Eastern theories, primarily the 5 Element Theory dating back to 2000BC. The elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. The Five Element theory was developed from observing the laws of nature. It describes the interaction and relationships between all that is.
The 5 Elements also exist inside us physically, mentally and spiritually. Each Element has its own particular purpose and actions in our body. For example, the Earth Element corresponds to the Spleen and Stomach organs so it is responsible for digesting not only food, but also thoughts and emotions. The elements give birth to each other as well as control one another through different cycles to ensure the there is a continual movement and harmony. This can be observed in nature through the cycle of seasons, where there is recurrent change from each season-to-season.
It is believed that every person has a constitutional trait to one of the elements. All diseases arise from the imbalance of this element and by strengthening it the whole system is restored to balance. Rather than treating each complaint separately, the idea is to balance and strengthen the whole system so that the body starts to heal itself. By doing this, the focus is on the person with the symptoms, as opposed to the symptoms of the person. This can have an immediate profound effect on the person. Although everyone has a different experience, generally the person will simply feel better overall in themselves.
Much of the attention is put on the spirit of the person. Their childhood experiences, current emotional state and how the person copes with the daily stress are all important. However, this does not mean that this form of Acupuncture treats only the emotions. Body, mind and soul cannot be considered separately in a person. To treat at this level is to treat the root cause of all illnesses.
The patient can expect to talk about their main presenting symptoms, as well as history of their health and recent experiences during the consultations. Thin, sterile acupuncture needles are used, and are quickly taken out after the needle sensation is attained. The numbers of sessions completed depend on each individual, and will continually be discussed between the patient and the practitioner. 4 to 5 weekly sessions are common, followed by more extended periods of break in between treatments. Except for the initial one or two treatments, the sessions last for approximately 45 minutes.
