MEDITATION
“There is a quiet light that shines in every heart. It draws no attention to itself though it is always secretly there. It is what illuminates our minds to see beauty, our desire to seek possibility, and our hearts to love life.” John O’Donahue.
Meditation stimulates this process subtly and enables a communion with this place of inner peace. It is a complimentary healing skill for our 21st Century. Generally understood as a method to still the mind to allow internal spontaneous consciousness states to arise; in this program this is only the beginning point. The meditation processes used will integrate: deep relaxation, focused breathing, alignment to our deepest resources, then focus upon using symbols, shapes, colours, and sounds. Its application is founded upon a world-view that there is more to life than the physical. That we all have an energetic and spiritual element to our being and our physical bodies have a subtle energy structure integrated into it.
Meditation is a pathway through the threshold of our outer and inner life. This stimulation can be sublime and sometimes challenges our understanding of ourselves – and all that surrounds us. Our inner experiences can be fluid, mild, and easy to integrate, as spiritual insights occur and we infuse new ideas and insights into our life. This process can also be startling, intense and strange without a context or holistic understanding of these energetic dimensions.
As we take up the challenge to develop ourselves, we learn to differentiate between internal and external experiences. When we learn how to manage this, it results in an easy incorporation of non-ordinary states of consciousness into everyday life. Suffice to say, the process will never be dull or uninteresting.
Having some knowledge of the map of consciousness and developing the skill of meditation takes time and practise, but during this journey an appreciation of self occurs and is nourished. A clearer holistic perspective to our lives occurs. Other benefits include: improved self-awareness, autoimmune stimulation and sleep quality improvement.
The program offers participants enhanced emotional and psychosomatic health; the ability to reduce stress levels with an understanding that gives greater control and appreciation of how the physical body works in conjunction with energetic stimulation, Colour, Sound and Chakra consciousness. A combination of these is used to reach a state of inner calm.
Each session is between 60 – 75 mins, the time dependent upon the group review and process. Participants are invited to discuss their experiences, though this is not mandatory. A manual and CD of the foundational meditation exercise is included.
The first session covers the contextual knowledge and exercises to be explored and practised. At this time participants can assess whether the program will suit their needs. The program runs for 9 sessions, once a fortnight commencing February the 18th, 10.30 am Saturdays. The fee is $ 50.00 per session or at reduced rate if paid prior to the program. Public holiday weekends are not included in the program timetable.
